The NFL and NFL Players Association announced a new partnership Last week with gaming technology studio Mythical Games to introduce an NFT-based video game called NFL Rivals with a Play & Own concept.
Ahead of the NFL Rivals game launch, 32 limited-quantity collections of unique generative 3D NFL franchise-themed NFTs will be released in a series of drops called “Rarity League.” This officially licensed collection will provide owners access to special events, in-game rewards and other unique features.

The Why
The game will officially launch in 2023, The actual game itself will allow fans to compete against other gamers as the general manager of a team in a fantasy-style environment while assembling rosters with NFTs of their favorite players through a play-and-own system.
For those of us who love the NFL, we have been waiting for the NFL to catch up to the NBA & MLB finally that day has come. There have been other notable NFL projects, but this is the first with any holder utility. Partnership with Mythical Games lets us know this should be decent. They have a proven track record with Blockchain games like Blankos which has been a huge success. It will be very interesting to watch this play out and learn more about the NFT utility case and the exact meaning behind Play 2 Own.
